When I married into the gun business I determined that our shop would treat our women customers with the same respect given to men.
At Jones' Fort we will:
Help you find the gun that best meets your needs.
Sell you the correct ammunition for your gun. (Bring your gun or manual with you.)
Help you pick out that special gift for the
gun lover in your family.
Gun Buying Tips
Decide what you want to do with your gun. Ask yourself these questions:
How often will I carry this gun on me?
If you are going to carry it often choose the lightest, smallest package.
Will I use this gun for target shooting?
The ideal target gun has a longer, (4"- 6") barrel and is heavier than a carry gun.
How often will I practice shooting?
It takes less time to become proficient with a revolver than a semiautomatic.
Do I prefer to keep my nails long or short?
Even medium length nails can make it difficult to load the magazine on a
semiauto, especially if the magazine well is recessed into the frame.
Is my wrist or grip strength impaired?
Before you buy a semiauto make sure you can pull the slide back, work the magazine latch and fully depress the trigger. I love the size of the Smith & Wesson 380 Sigma but I cannot squeeze magazine latch hard enough to release it.
Is the grip comfortable?
A choice of wood or rubber grips in different sizes is available for most handguns.
Can I see the sights?
I prefer square notch, white outline adjustable sight.
If you haven't already guessed, I prefer revolvers. They are simpler to use.
My range time is limited and I have more success with my Smith & Wesson Model 19 than any other gun I own.
However it is impractical to carry. For that I prefer my Beretta 21 semiauto. The new Beretta Tomcat is also excellent.
